Kellands take part in Brain Tumour Research Charity Raceday

The Kellands team joined the crowds at Chepstow to see the racing and to help raise funds for this important charity.

Kellands are avid fund raisers for cancer. When hearing that Chepstow Racing was holding a race day in association with The Brain Tumour Research Charity, they decided that they had to take part.

So many of the staff from the offices of Kellands Bristol, Kellands Gloucester and Kellands Cheltenham attended Chepstow last Friday, raising their glasses as well as raising funds for this extremely worthy cause.

The Brain Tumour Charity is the world’s leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. Its vision is for a world where brain tumours are defeated.

At least 88,000 children and adults are currently estimated to be living with a brain tumour in the UK. And the impact can be devastating. Just 12% of adults survive for five years after diagnosis and brain tumours reduce life expectancy by an average of 27 years – the highest of any cancer.

Despite this, treatments haven’t changed in 40 years and research into brain tumours is still woefully underfunded. In fact, just 3% of the money spent each year on cancer research in the UK is spent on brain tumours. So fundraising events such as these are well needed.

Carole-Ann Rowley, Marketing Director at Kellands, explained: ‘Kellands are a well-established firm of Independent Financial Advisers who not only like to get involved with our local communities but also like to give something back and to support admirable causes. If we can do this by enjoying the event at the same time, as we do with Children in Need, and indeed the racing, it’s a bonus.’

Over 35 attended from Kellands and Chairman Steve Kelland donated the proceeds raised from the day to the Brain Tumour Charity.
